Hutchinson is the largest city in and the county seat of Reno County, Kansas, United States. The city is located on the Arkansas River. It has been home to salt mines since 1887 (thus its nickname of "Salt City")

Marion Bailey was a highly skilled commercial photographer in Hutchinson between 1905 and 1915. He mainly focused on photographing commercial buildings and making penny postcards for the citizens to mail to their relatives.
